The MOMS with Denise & Melissa hits SiriusXM Stars
Airing Mondays at 11 am ET on SiriusXM Stars, Ch. 106
We’ve got breaking news, and it’s mama-rrific! SiriusXM has just added a new show to their SiriusXM Stars lineup: The MOMS with Denise & Melissa. Originally a six-show special earlier this year, The MOMS resonated so much with SiriusXM listeners, that the two are back with their very own slot on the SiriusXM airwaves!
The MOMS is basically tailor made for all you fab mamas out there, providing tested-and-true tips on parenting and insightful methods of balancing your life (relationship-wise, health-wise or otherwise).
So who are the MOMS? Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein will be your reliable co-hosts of the hour-long show. This dynamic duo have an extensive background in all things mama focused: they are the founders ofTheMOMS.com; creators of the nation-wide Mamarazzi ® event; co-founders of Strut, the Fashionable Mom Show; regular contributors to The Huffington Post Parents, Huffington Post Divorce and are even involved in non-profits like UNICEF.
With such an in-depth background in parenting, the new weekly show will cover topics that matter most to parents today. Albert and Musen Gerstein will discuss everything from how to communicate effectively with your little ones, tough situations like bullying, and divorce, to different parenting styles and even how to get that extra push to help your kids (and you!) succeed. A family going through a divorce will be feeling tense and unsure about where they stand, so tapping into support like this in a friendly and real way as well as speaking to professionals that handle Family Law, will give families that much-needed help during a period of uncertainty. On top of that, the weekly show will feature parenting-focused celeb interviews, listener call-ins, and the popular segments Mamarazzi ®, Mommentary, and The MOMS’ Mom of the Week with the winner being nominated and selected from her friends and peers.
“Having ‘The MOMS’ as a new weekly radio show allows us to connect with a larger audience across the country. There is tremendous gratification in connecting with callers on the spot and sharing stories and advice. As parents, we all know there is no ‘Mom Manual,’ so we need to learn from each other,” said Musen Gerstein and Albert.
Be sure to catch The MOMs Mondays at 11 am ET on SiriusXM Stars. Or tune in on your own time, On Demand.

Holiday Treats
When it comes to entertaining, as a mom there’s nothing worse than being stuck in the kitchen all night, rather than enjoying time with family and friends. So when it comes to hosting your holiday soiree this season, here are a few ideas to make your life a bit easier.
The very first thing you need to do is to fix your fan or get an AC Repair service. Because, you are going to toll away in the kitchen, no matter what, so make sure that you have a comfortable relaxing space after all the preparation is done. When it comes to meal prep, have a proper plan, from what to make and how long it will take.
Of course, the comfort of your guests is very important. After all, holiday is the time for family and togetherness. So, see that their rooms are cleaned and maintained well. Check if all your cooling and heating system is working efficiently. If you have a generator, ensure it has enough fuel (or contact one of your local gas or propane residential delivery services to refill) to run for the day. Declutter and clean the place thoroughly. When it comes to cooking, have everything planned. Be it the menu, seating or home decor arrangement, try to get it done sooner. If you need help with kitchen work, hire someone or get a caterer. You may also want to consider upgrading some of your everyday appliances. One new product to check out is the Frigidaire Gallery Induction Range. It’s amazing — it brings water to a boil in less than 2 minutes and preheats in less than 6 minutes.
During the holiday season, it is very likely that you are going to have family and friends over to celebrate together. As much as it is important that you get all the necessary supplies and appliances fixed, you must also pay special heed to the drains and pipes in your house! Be it your kitchen or your bathroom – no one appreciates a clogged or smelly drain now, do they? So before you start making plans to get your supplies in order, get in touch with a reputed plumbing company (similar to City Plumbing + Rooter) who can get things looked at and fixed if necessary!
It is also very likely that you will have to accommodate a lot of children, and toddlers too! Add that to the frenzy of cooking and cleaning everything, and it’s enough to make any mom stressed out. A simple step you can take is to get wipe easy tablecloths for your dining table, kitchen, and anywhere else you may be eating at. This way, you won’t have to worry about the first thing that comes to mind when you put kids and food together – spills!
Do you need new pots and pans? Are you still using the same set from over 10 years ago? This may be the time to invest in some new items. Calphalon’s newly redesigned Contemporary Nonstick cookware is awesome because- get this- it’s dishwasher safe.
And when it comes to serving food, some quick time-saving tips: always keep things on hand that are easy to prepare. You can even dress up everyday items and your guests will never know that it took you minutes, not hours, to prepare (we won’t tell if you won’t!). For example, some of you may already have Triscuits at home – so here’s a great recipe that’s both quick and simple. It’s a Brown Rice Triscuit Ricotta and Fresh Strawberry Topper. The Brown Rice is a new line by Triscuit and is made with 100% whole grain brown rice and wheat, and bakes in wholesome ingredients like sweet potato and red beans. They come in five flavors, and all you need to do is add a little ricotta, fresh strawberries and a balsamic glaze and you’ll have a delicious appetizer that took you no time to prepare!
We also love Nasoya Wraps. They come in three varieties and you can find them in the produce section at your local food store. What’s great about these is that they’re versatile and fun to cook with — you can make quick and delicious appetizers and desserts within minutes. Delicious and a really great way to add a homemade touch to your parties this season.
A Great Opportunity for Families to Give Back, Together!
We truly believe that the most important aspect of parenting is involving children in charitable acts, and the notion of giving back. Not only is it important to instill these values in our children, but even more so, to demonstrate these values through inclusion.
We would like to call to attention a few companies that are coming together to give parents the opportunity to involve their kids in giving back. On #GivingTuesday, Mommy Nearest, 92nd Street Y and giggle are encouraging families to help those in need with their Clothing & Toy Drive. Donations will be accepted at 92nd Street Y and at any giggle NYC location.
After donating, spend the afternoon with your family! Head over to 92nd Street Y and take a holiday photo in the MotorBooth truck. Participants who upload photos with hashtag #MommyNearest will be entered to win an annual subscription to SPARKBOX Toys, a company that will change your outlook on toys- seriously, check it out!
We think this is an amazing opportunity to show your kids the importance of giving back and having fun with your family while doing it. At the very least, you’ll be able to get a head start on Spring Cleaning. If you have done your cleaning and repair, maybe by taking the services of companies like Infinity Construction – including installation or repair of decks or patio, before the season, well and good! These maintenance works are much needed and spring cleaning would be the ideal time to do it. It would be, however, appreciated if the entire family can do the spring cleaning together. While doing the cleaning, if need be, you can also take the help of a property restoration company, to do fixtures that you cannot do on your own. Well, sometimes you may need professional assistance if there are fire and water damages to the property. Seeing works get done and making them do some can also inspire children to be responsible. Then again, there are some chores that neither children nor adults in the family can handle, and might require the services of a professional, such as septic tank cleaning, for instance, that is best left to septic tank cleaning companies. So, before you start the chores, make a list of things you and your family can handle, and those you will need help with. Then get on with the annual ritual of clearing the gutters, cleaning the windows, fixing the exterior of the house by changing the old cracked siding, or replacing the roofing by hiring companies like Safe Harbor Exteriors and then clicking your holiday photos out of the way- for moms, it’s all about multitasking!
We love companies that recognize the importance of families, and act on it. Thanks, Mommy Nearest, 92nd Street Y, giggle and SPARKBOX Toys.
